Thanks for your comment. I think I was mostly getting at the fact that the overall shape/distribution of fat is changed, not necessarily that you are always going to be larger after having kids. One great thing about being young is that you can bounce back quickly. I lost nearly all of my baby fat in the first four months, but extended breastfeeding certainly made me retain the last few pounds (for good reason). I've always been in great shape, and now I am back to running at least 3 or 4 times a week, but the bottom line is that my body chemistry is different -- pregnancy permanently changes your metabolism.

I sympathize with you, I really do.. but I disagree that the pre-baby figure automatically becomes a thing of the past once your little one comes along.

Plenty of moms get back in shape. Don't shoot yourself down.. I think that what's important isn't the size of your jeans, but the energy and health afforded to you from being being fit. :)

Oh you hit the nail on the head with this one. I wrote a post similar to this a few weeks ago. I really really wish I could shop at some of those young adult stores (Charlotte Russe and Wet Seal) like the other 20somethings, but I have to buy clothes with a little more structure to hide the little pooch that's left over from the babies. My friends complain about being "fat" but their abs are flat. I don't get it. Great post! :)
